When you're a kid and the holiday is just around the corner, you can't wait to open your presents and play with the toys you receive for the year. What's even better is when you receive a LEGO® play set which packs a lot of features that will spark your imagination and have you salivating over the pages of the instruction manual just to complete the assembly of the model.
We totally get you, because that's exactly what we would do if given a LEGO set to build.
LEGO has continuously amazed us with their release of different LEGO themes that are inspired by some of the most well-loved books, and movie series. But the fun does not end there, as the company continues to introduce LEGO models that just make us stop and admire the details incorporated into every colorful brick and LEGOLAND box. A set that will not only make you look forward to the building experience, but will also activate your creative juices. We are talking about the LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron set, which is based on Bugatti's luxurious sports car that has a hefty tag price of $2.7 million.
The LEGO TECHNIC Bugatti Chiron set is the latest addition in the line of Technic themed LEGO models that are built out of Technic parts and kept in luxury packaging. For $350, you get a massive amount of bricks to play with: 3,600 pieces to be exact.
There's a lot of cool features that every supercar fan will love including the 8-speed transmission, seven forward gears, and a reverse gear.
The box that houses this epic LEGO model stands out from other LEGO Technic boxes we've seen before. It features an impressive image of the car model on the front, and just like the LEGO Technic Porsche 911 GT3 RS model, this box features LEGO Technic’s new premium packaging that is reserved for flagship models. At the top of the box, you will find a profile view and a picture of the custom wheel element, while the back of the box features a three quarter rear profile and some detailed images of the Bugatti Chiron model. The packaging has a rich blue color, and features minimal logos that contribute to the polished look of the box.
Inside the box, there are six smaller boxes, a sticker sheet, and two instruction books to help you assemble thousands of LEGO bricks into a pretty solid model. The smaller boxes are numbered, and each box contains LEGO bricks that are packed tightly inside. Box numbers 1 to 5 contain loose panels and bags of LEGO pieces, while bag number 6 contain four tires and four wheels. Stickers included in the box are pre-cut, and numbered to guide you on their appropriate placement on different parts of the model.
The instruction manuals that come with this set are made of high quality paper and has around 300 pages each. You will find some spectacular photos of Bugatti's two-seater sports car inside these manuals.
This is a pretty challenging model to assemble. With the massive number of pieces, it can be difficult to know what goes where. Luckily, the building instructions are divided into six parts that correspond with the six smaller boxes that we mentioned earlier.
There are some new pieces added to this set that are part of the technical innovation for every LEGO Technic model. You will find two Technic Changeover Rotary Catch that are used to connect one to two transmission driving rings through a 90 degree rotation.
There is also one piece of Technic Driving Ring Extension that is an upgraded version of the existing 4-teeth ring extension. The transmission driving ring included in this set has 8 teeth inside and out to reduce the backlash caused by using it. It serves the same purpose as the existing 32187 piece, which allows for more complex transmissions just by connecting the piece to a driving ring.
LEGO also included four pieces of Technic Gear 20 Tooth with Clutch on Both Sides, which are a new type of gear wheel that make it possible for fewer gear wheels to create various gear ratios in a transmission.
Aside from having a design that accurately mimics the human scaled version of this luxurious car, the LEGO TECHNIC Bugatti Chiron set is loaded with iconic features that are expected of a LEGO Technic premium car set. It has a paddle-shifter mechanism, which is introduced in bag number 5, a functional suspension system, AWD drivetrain, double wishbone suspension on the front and rear part of the model, and a forward and reverse selector, just to name a few.
From the body design of the model, to the intricate details of the interior, this set is one of the most complex models you will get to build this year.
